2011 Full Length Season Video - Gotta Get Out!

Biking is the key to exploration, meeting new people and having good times. Many people limit themselves the true experience by confine themselves to the one skate park, the one set of dirt jumps, or the one favorite trail, being afraid to leave their comfort zone. But bikes are the masterpieces created for exploration and pushing the limits. This movie is just that. Leaving our usual zones we find new places to ride, new tricks to execute, and good times to be had. Im always up for something different as a filmer and rider.

So this video is a little update on my progress. Its been a tough time since my accident but i feel I'm finally starting to get somewhere. I know its not the best riding i've ever done but its where i'm at at the moment, like i say in the vid i'm not 100 percent but i will get there and i can't wait to be back to full strength.

Hello Whistler! Summertime Dirt Jumping!

I always spend extra time editing my videos because editing can influence a lot when creating the overall look, feel and quality of the video. In this video I have spent extra time editing to create the fun and upbeat feel to it and for the effects that you see at 2:41-3:20. In case you don't know how I did the editing from that section, I had the camera sitting on the tripod filming for a while in each angle so that I could get lots of riders going through the jumps to work within the shots. I used After Effects to mask out the riders in each of the shots and put them into the background of the exact same shot but from a different point in time when there was no riders in the shot, so that I had a clean background to work with. Basically I was editing to all the digital vocal stutters, and I really wanted it to look very interesting and fun and quirky, so it took me a good deal of time to just get those parts figured out. I filmed this video on two different days in the summer, one day during Crankworx, which is a great time to film there because there are so many good riders hitting the jumps. I wanted to get a lot of footage of guys training the jumps with a lot of tricks in there too. I was hoping to get more footage, but I never found the time for that to happen. Locals 2 - Part I

This film is a bit of a winter project for me, and as the name suggests, it's the second film in the Locals line. The first one was a film on my scene as well, but for the followup features some bigger name riders, their local riding spots and their home life in the off season. It's a good, honest look at what they get up to in a day - chilling out with mates, the odd event, partying, some moto, BMX, DH etc. With riders such as Josh Bryceland, who came 2nd at the Mt. St Anne World Cup this season, and British Downhill Series winner Alex Bond, among other pinners. Filmed on a Canon 550d using Nikon lens', part 1 has some great riding, good tunes and fun vibes. Locals2 - Part 2 - Danny Hart and Company

After Part one went live a month ago, part 2 is now live and ready. With Danny Hart, Scott Mears and Harry Molloy. Sam Oakes also came along to help film the Hart/Mears section, with a limited few days of time to shoot with the super busy Hart it seemed a good idea to get another camera man in too.

Team Oak Bay Bicycles - Lavan 2012

Oak Bay Bicycles and Lavan Apparel are excited to announce Team Oak Bay Bicycles - Lavan for 2012. The team includes Jarrett Moore, Joe Esnouf, Travis Bilton, Sam Sedun, Brandi Simmons, Andrew Sherry, & Scott Wink Grant. They'll be mentored by Geoff Pendrel, who co-owns the Oak Bay Bicycles Westshore store and is the Canadian National DH Team coach. As a diverse group of riders they will be attending a variety of events, from the local Island Cup DH series and the Jumpship dirt jump competition in Victoria to international Slopestyle and Enduro events.

To get things started right, we shot a little promo video of Jarrett Moore and Joe Esnouf shredding some local trails. The weather, bikes and cameras all came together and we had a great time shooting this. Hope you enjoy it!
